YOU can always tell a good restaurant from its condiments.

At The Blue Parrot you can choose from Louisiana Hot Sauce, Tabasco, Lea and Perrins, or Wolf Hot Sauce.

If you like Mexican food, and who doesn't, then this is the place to come. Situated close to Walking Street, it's a small unassuming place that is easily lost between go-go bars, but it offers decent food at decent prices.

We started with the Deluxe Nachos (110 baht), which comes with a plain or spicy dip. The spicy dip is the one to choose. There's nothing quite like eating with your fingers, and these nachos - filled with melted cheese, beef and beans - were perfect for picking up and wolfing down.

My main course was the Burritos Consalsa Verde (175 baht), while my partner opted for the Tacos de Pollo (185 baht).

The burritos were bursting with beef and topped with melted cheddar, while resting next to them were rice and beans. It's a filling dish, so make sure you're prepared, but it's also delicious and bursting with flavours.

It's hard to do Tacos badly, and here there were no mistakes as the dish came filled to overflowing with chicken which had been sauteed in green salsa. Rice and beans accompanied the main dish.

Sitting out in the open stuffing ourselves with burritos and tacos is a good way to spend any afternoon. If you fancy Mexican for breakfast, they do some unusual dishes, or there is Thai for those that want to keep it local.

Although the waitresses are all Thai and there's few hints of authentic central America, there are yellow walls painted with green cactus, and a few sombreros and bull-fighting posters hang from the walls.

And with Louisana Hot Sauce, you know they've made the effort to keep their amigos happy.
